RESIDENTS have been asked for their views on how the Isle of Wight Council should spend taxpayers’ cash next year.
The Isle of Wight Council has launched its budget consultation earlier than in previous years to allow residents the chance to make their views known at an earlier stage.
An online simulator on the council website will allow residents to suggest where cash should be saved or spent, ahead of February’s budget setting meeting.
A written survey is also available and there will be a series of meetings for members of Island interest groups and organisations to have their say. The first of these meetings was held last Thursday.
According to the Isle of Wight Council the authority must save around £2.5m next year and faces a potential funding gap of £22m that will need to be met by 2016/17.
The budget simulator – which will be available until August 6 - can be viewed on the following link: www.iwight.com/haveyoursay

I agree with Robert - what is the point of this? Unless the island increases its jobs and productivity what the point about consulting on beach huts? Is anybody there....

When has THIS council EVER listened to us THE RATE PAYER. SO why are they going to change NOW? WHY have we got to follow the lord and masters in no 10 (TORY / LIB) WHO have put us in the MESS and have NO idea how to get us out of it. WE NEED JOBS to get THIS island going, NOT MORE JOB LOSSES. This is just a cynical way of PUGH and friends saying you had your say BUT WE are doing it OUR way as always....
