Have your say on spin-ema screening

Cyclists help power the cycling cinema at last year's Isle of Wight Cycling Festival. Picture by Robin Crossley.

A PEDAL powered cinema will return as part of the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival this year and Islanders can have their say on what they want to see.

The cycling cinema, where the audience provides the power by taking turns to pedal their bikes on special stands, will be at Seaclose Park on September 13 at 7pm.

Islanders have a choice of films, from:

• Belleville Rendez-Vous

• Despicable Me 2

• The Lego Movie

• The Wizard of Oz

• Wall-E

Votes can be cast via the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival's website at www.isleofwightcyclingfestival.co.uk before noon on Friday 1 August.

Executive member for sustainability Cllr Luisa Hillard said: "This is another example of how the council is supporting innovative projects across the Island that promote fun, eco-friendly events that bring together many aspects of a more sustainable lifestyle for Islanders and visitors as part of the Bicycle Island brand recently launched by Visit Isle of Wight."

The event is free to attend.

What a fantastic idea - cyclists doing something useful, that keeps you fit, saves on electricity & best of all keeps them off the road & annoying motorists! First class show!

(I now await the bombardment of comments from retaliating cyclists - sorry to upset you guys, I know we all have to live together (or at least share the roads together) but I just couldn't resist that one).
