Pupils from Selsdon Primary School successfully completed their mission - Operation Christmas Child - on Friday, November 23 by offering 260 gift-wrapped shoeboxes brimming with goodies to brighten up Christmas for children in Eastern Europe.

The pupils from the Addington Road-based school had two weeks to come up with the goods which included scarves, sweets, teddy bears and dolls.

School organiser Linda Realis said: "We saw the campaign advertised in GMTV to help those in Afganistan and countries in Eastern Europe.

"The children were glad they managed to so many shoeboxes with gifts in time for the delivery date."
