POLICE are promoting measures to prevent mobile phone thefts from school pupils.
Hertfordshire Police are looking to organise phone-marking sessions at schools and distribute leaflets and posters with information about how to prevent a mobile from being stolen.
Assistant Chief Constable Simon Ash said: "By taking a few easy steps people can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of mobile theft."
Advice in the leaflets includes security marking the phone and battery using a permanent marker with your postcode and house number, recording the phone's 15 digit IMEI number (key *#06# to display), and avoid displaying your phone in public view.
For more details on the scheme, ring Detective Chief Inspector Graham Weston on 01442 271060.
