PARTS of the Isle of Wight were hit by heavy rain this morning (Wednesday).
The Met Office issued a yellow 'be aware’ weather warning for the Island yesterday (Tuesday), in place for the whole day.
In Ventnor firefighters were called to pump out water from the lift shaft of Boots in the High Street at about 10:40am today.
Flood-water was also reported in the basement of estate agent Hose Rhodes Dickson.
One High Street business owner said: "The sky turned black before the deluge.
Water flowed down Tulse Hill and into the High Street, but luckily stopped short of flooding businesses, although flood-water did enter the basement of estate agent Hose Rhodes Dickson."

It woke me up at 3:30 AM. Sounded like someone throwing gravel at the window. Saw some poor bloke on a motorcycle coming down through Freshwater doing about 10mph!

I agree! We were nearly flooded at work, but luckily the rain stopped before we were. If the rain had been heavier and longer, I dread to think what would have happened. We would definitely have been flooded. Perhaps we could use a 'hose' to pump out the water incase it 'rose' anymore!
