A WARNING for heavy rain has been issued for the Isle of Wight by the Met Office for tomorrow (Thursday).

The yellow 'be aware' warning is in force from 00.05am to 8pm tomorrow.

The Met Office said: "Further rain, heavy at times, will spread northeast across the region during Thursday.

"With the ground already saturated and rivers running high the public should be aware that there is a risk of localised flooding and disruption to travel."

The chief forecaster said: "Convective elements embedded in the fronts have potential for up to 15mm in an hour and perhaps 30mm in three hours in places.

"Expect rain totals of 15 to 25mm quite widely and as much as 40 to 50mm in the wettest parts by the end of the day."
