THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning ahead of heavy rain in the south east of the country, including the Isle of Wight.
The alert was issued today (Tuesday) at 11.25 and lasts until 6am tomorrow (Wednesday).
The Met Office said: "Further heavy showers are likely through the rest of Tuesday and particularly overnight into Wednesday when bands of heavy showers and thunderstorms will move northeastwards, accompanied by squally winds.
"The public should be aware of the risk of disruption, mainly due to localised flooding but also where squally winds occur."

I like heavy rain warnings. That means any rain we do get will be light and non disruptive. Unlike the torrential downpour Sandown got overnight Sunday into early Monday morning when I was woken up at 4am and kept awake for nearly an hour. Where was the rain warning then? When I did eventually drift back to sleep I dreamed I was on Noah's Arc. Haven't seen rain like that for many many months.

Quite right David - good advice. Stay away from trees too, for the same reason. The best thing to do if caught in a storm is crouch down and make yourself as small a target as possible.

Localised flooding? I always wondered about this. Local to who exactly?

Wellies and Sou'wester I guess - but don't use an umbrella in a thunder storm - they act as lightning conductors
