Helicopter rescue

A COASTGUARD helicopter rescue operation was launched this morning (Monday), with support from Yarmouth RNLI Lifeboat, to evacuate a person from a vessel at Newtown Creek.

A spokeswoman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the person was being airlifted to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, after suffering from a medical condition.

*An MCA spokesman confirmed a 78-year-old woman had been evacuated from a small yacht.

They were called to assist at around 6.50am.
