Vieux Farka Toure will headline at Rhythmtree.
THE Island’s world music festival, Rhythmtree, has announced its full main stage line-up for its rescheduled dates of August 24 to 26, at Three Gates Farm, Calbourne.
The event, which attracts top-quality musicians from all over the world, was rescheduled from July after the ground was waterlogged.
Organisers have now booked Vieux Farka Toure, dubbed The Hendrix of the Sahara.
Friday will still be headlined by Skip "Little Axe" McDonald, who will be joined by two multi-talented world fusion bands, Wara and Lokkhi Terra. Saturday will be headlined by Vieux Farka Toure and Sunday’s finale will be Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80 keyboard player, Dele Sosimi, with his own nine-piece Afrobeat orchestra.
Also new to the main stage will be Ukranian singer/songwriter Iryna Muha, The Ouse Valley Singles Club and award-winning Cajun band, Colin and the Crawfish.
