MORE than £1,000 has been raised for the Sophie Rolf KissyPuppy appeal after two friends braved a zip wire at Wembley Stadium.

Scott Byrne and David Smith scaled to the top of the 90,000 capacity stadium’s stand and used the zip wire to fly across the pitch to the other side.

Sponsorship money will go towards the KissyPuppy appeal, a fund that will be used to give Sophie, five, as many magical experiences as possible. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour this year.

Mr Smith, 31, of Beech Road, Newport, said: "I had been sent an e-mail about the zip wire experience and my wife had read the stories about Sophie in the County Press and it went from there.

"She put something on Facebook asking for sponsors and Scott got in touch to ask if he could join me. We’ve both got young children and Sophie’s story just pulls at your heartstrings."
