High winds mean changes to ferries

HIGH winds in the Solent have hit ferry travel today (Tuesday).

Wightlink said Wight Ryder I would depart from Portsmouth Harbour at 15 minutes past each hour from 09:15 to 22:15 and from Ryde Pier Head 47 minutes past each hour from 09:47 until 22:47.

The company said charter vessel Wight Scene would operate from Portsmouth Harbour at 16:40 and 18:45 and from Ryde Pier Head at 17:25, with crossing times of 40 minutes.

A weather warning has been issued for tomorrow and Wightlink said there was likely to be some changes to services.

It said Wight Ryder I would depart from Portsmouth Harbour at 15 minutes past each hour from 05:15 to 22:15 and from Ryde Pier Head 47 minutes past each hour from 05:47 until 22:47.

Charter vessel Wight Scene is due to operate from Portsmouth Harbour at 08:15, 16:40 and 18:45 and from Ryde Pier Head at 07:10, 09:10 and 17:25,  with 40 minute crossing times.
