Holiday in the trees plan for Island

THE Isle of Wight's growing reputation as a unique tourist destination has received another boost.

Wootton couple Will and Fiona Headington have applied for planning permission to build three tree house holiday units in the grounds of their home to offer adventurous, countryside-loving holidaymakers something a bit different.

Semi-ancient woodland surrounds Westwood Cottage, off Brocks Copse Road, and Mr and Mrs Headington, who run a Cowes-based holiday lettings business, believe their tree houses would offer a niche tourism experience.

"A lot of people stay in the UK for their holidays but not everyone loves camping and a tree house is another option," said Mrs Headington.

"The idea is to offer a 'back to nature' experience, somewhere to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Island."

Christopher Scott is the planning and architectural agent leading the project.

Wootton Bridge Parish Council has given its backing to the scheme after it was revised to address concerns about vehicle access.
