Home park bosses must pay £6,000

Left, James Crickmore and right, in September 2007, the new owners of the park addressed residents at a meeting. James Crickmore, left, and Maurice Sines.

THE directors of a company that owns Medina Park, in Whippingham, have been fined for offences against residents.

Maurice Sines and James Crickmore pleaded guilty to charges dating back to 2008, when they appeared before Southampton Magistrates Court in April.

Their company, Leisure Parks Real Estate Ltd, is also accused of a number offences and sentencing will take place later.

In a case brought by the Isle of Wight Council, Crickmore pleaded guilty to committing acts likely to interfere with the peace or comfort of a mobile home resident. This included telling the purchaser of a mobile home they would have to pay £140 site rent a month, they would have to employ the company Blue Chip to undertake a survey and the mobile home must be moved from its base and would fall to pieces.

That was with intent to cause the occupier to give up the occupation of the premises or to refrain from exercising any rights in respect of the premises.

Sines also pleaded guilty to acts likely to interfere with the peace or comfort of a mobile home occupant by telling the resident of a mobile home it was junk and worthless, with intent to cause the resident to give up occupation or refrain from exercising any rights to premises.

Crickmore and Sines were each fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £2,000 costs.
