HOMES have been evacuated this morning after a gas pipe was damaged.
The properties in Linden Road, Newport, were cleared after a resident damaged the pipe with a spade.
Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service was called to the scene at 8.06am and gas engineers were also sent.
*Gas engineers carried out a temporary repair of the pipe.
