POWER to hundreds of homes on the south of the Isle of Wight was cut off tonight (Thursday).
Around 1,700 homes in the Ventnor and Whitwell area were left in the dark after a fault on a high-voltage network.
A Scottish and Southern Electric spokesman said that engineers were called at 8.40pm and after rerouting power supplies most customers were reconnected.
The spokesman added that engineers were working at the site and power was expected to be restored to all customers.
It was not known what caused the power cut.
