Hopping mad for Christmas

The hopping Santas en route from Merstone to Blackwater.

THE rain clouds cleared and the sun even shone a little for St Catherine’s Santa Hop on Saturday.

More than 30 Santas joined St Catherine’s first three-legged Santa sponsored walk from Merstone to Blackwater, along the cycle track.

Kim Fry, St Catherine’s community fundraiser, said: "It was a fantastic morning and rather surreal to see all our Santa pairs tied together walking along the track.

"Our Santas came from Island companies, including Southern Vectis and Gurit, Island and mainland families and friends, St Catherine’s staff and learners."

All the Santas finished the Santa Hop with minced pies, mulled wine and refreshments.

Kim added: "We would like to thank all our fabulous Santas for joining us. All the funds raised through sponsorship supports children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties. We are already being asked about next year and St Catherine’s Santa Hop will definitely become an annual event."
