A HORSE was rescued by Isle of Wight firefighters yesterday (Saturday) after trapping its leg in a gate.

Firefighters were called to the scene at Park Farm, at the Middle Road, near Carisbrooke, shortly after 5.15pm.

They spent around an hour helping a vet free the stuck animal.

A spokesman for the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "In the end the horse was up and mobile."
