Horse rider airlifted from beach

A HORSE rider was airlifted from an Isle of Wight beach today (Saturday) with suspected spinal injuries after a fall.

A Coastguard helicopter crew were called to Priory Bay beach by the ambulance service at around 11.15am, due to the inaccessible location.

A Coastguard spokesman said the rider was taken by helicopter to St Mary's Hospital, Newport.
