THE Earl Mountbatten Hospice is looking for volunteers to serve in the cafe at its new John Cheverton Centre, which is due to open in the autumn.

The development will provide some of the hospice’s existing services in a much improved environment.

It will also bring new and different opportunities and services for people of all ages, living with life-limiting illnesses, and their family, friends and carers. The hospice also aims to recruit volunteers in many other roles.

People are needed to work in its new shop in Lugley Street, Newport, on Sundays and the Ventnor shop on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Volunteers are also needed to help at the Newport Donation and Distribution Centre to sort donations.

Receptionists are needed at the hospice, yellow donation box collectors for the Ryde area, drivers and escorts to transport patients to and from appointments and to support the hospice fundraising department at various Island events.

Training will be provided for all the roles.

Anyone interested in any of these voluntary positions can contact Judith Stratton, the hospice’s voluntary services manager, on 01983 529511 extension 119 or e-mail vols@iwhospice.org
