THE boyfriend of student nurse Miss Loretta Nyoni, found dead in her flat last May, "didn't want to do it".

Jurors at St Albans Crown Court were played a video-taped confession by Vhuphilo Mudau, a 29-year-old IT worker, in which he told officers he loved Miss Nyoni "so dearly".

The Zimbabwean national, who decided not to take the stand, admits killing the 22-year-old University of Hertfordshire student from Zimbabwe but denies murder.

Miss Nyoni was found dead in her room on Friday, May 18, last year.

Miss Nyoni's best friend and flatmate, Ms Ntokozo Mzondo, told the court the victim had argued with her boyfriend the night before.

Ms Mzondo became worried when her friend did not appear the next morning.

She asked a cleaner to let her into Miss Nyoni's room where she found her dead.
