Underhill residents do not need to be told by your correspondent that we chose to live near a football ground, so stop complaining', because that is not the truth (Times Letters, January 31).

The fact is that residents, for the most part, chose to live in a residential area on the edge of the Green Belt and parkland, with a small football club nearby.

They, and some who are Barnet FC supporters, are happy that the club should continue where it is and improve its existing ground.

What local people do not want is an additional second stadium, including a commercial complex, to be built right across the cricket ground, the open space and the Green Belt.

They do not have to be experts in planning applications and building developments to recognise that their health and quality of life would be irreparably damaged by this proposal.
