ENFIELD'S relegation problems continued with a 2-1 reverse against Slough Town on Saturday.
With mud lapping around their ankles at Hendon's Claremont Road, the E's never came close to getting a win they desperately need.
Outclassed from the start, Jim Chandler's men fell behind after only seven minutes when Marcus Richardson poked the ball over the line from close range.
The visitors could have been ahead before this but for a good save from Jerome John after Richardson had torn the E's defence to shreds.
John was all that stood between Enfield and a thrashing as he pulled off save after save to deny the Slough attack.
But even the Enfield keeper's athleticism could not keep Slough at bay for ever and they extended their lead on 18 minutes when Richardson netted his second with a well placed header.
The E's did create some first half chances but the game was killed off as a contest in the 41st minute when Mark Hawthorne fired in Slough's third.
Chandler's side improved after the break and Jean-Marie Okita, Wayne Brown and Darren Annon all brought good saves from Honey in the Slough goal.
Town were content to sit back on their lead and although Simon Livett netted a consolation for Enfield on 70 minutes, it was too little, too late for a comeback.
Enfield are now 16th in the table, only five points clear of the drop zone.
ENFIELD: John (sub: Cox, 83min), Annon, Morgan, Cooper (Southgate, 83), Protheroe, Brown, Jones, Rattray, Okita, Livett, Clarke.
