A HOTEL on the Isle of Wight has been ranked fifth on a list of the best and most haunted places to stay in the UK.
The former home of Edward the Confessor and King Henry VIII, Arreton Manor, Arreton, has been recognised for its spooky five acre grounds and its welcoming reception.
The list of top-notch scary hotels and B&Bs was compiled by the holiday comparison website, Trip Advisor.
It follows a survey where one in six Brits believed they had a supernatural experience in a hotel.
Arreton Manor has been listed as one of the best places to stay and most likely to see a spectre stalking the grounds.
But guests who are not peeping around corners and checking the shadows have rated the hotel highly.
One reviewer said: "We felt at home the moment we walked into our room, which was spotlessly clean and full of historical character, yet wonderfully cosy. We could not have had a better break and we will definitely be returning."
