Hovercraft pilot taken ill

A HOVERTRAVEL pilot was taken ill yesterday (Sunday) during a crossing to the Isle of Wight.

A Hovertravel spokesman said the pilot became unwell during the the 5:30pm crossing as it approached Ryde. A senior crew member took control of the craft and it was landed safely with the help of the second pilot.

The spokesman added that all passengers were disembarked without further incident and the service was resumed following a short delay.
