FUNDRAISERS raising money to help pay for cancer treatment for Isle of Wight teenager Joe Ellis have collected thousands this weekend.

Outside the Isle of Wight Festival, where police colleagues of Joe's dad Simon collected donations in return for being pelted with wet sponges and eggs, many thousands were raised, his family said.

A car wash by fellow Christ the King College pupils added more than £1,000 to the total for the weekend.

There was a further boost for Joe from Isle of Wight Festival stars Rudimental, who tweeted a message of support to him.

Joe, 13, has an aggressive and inoperable form of cancer. His family hopes to raise £100,000 which will help pay for a new drug treatment from the US.
