Whether you are looking for a career or seeking to recruit the best, you cannot afford to miss the 1998 Jobs Fair, organised by the Surrey Comet and its sister paper the Kingston Guardian.

A wide range of real jobs will be on offer to a great variety of applicants at the Fair, the first of its kind in the borough, which will take place in the informal surroundings of Kingston University on April 16 and 17.

The Comet's series editor Jo-Ann Gumb said: "This is the first time such an opportunity has existed in Kingston for companies and employees to meet each other informally to discuss futures.

"We are expecting a big turnout, both from companies seeking to recruit Kingston's best and from the general public, either youngsters choosing their future career or people looking for a change of direction in their work. It should prove a boost to the local economy."

Newsquest, which owns the Comet and the Guardian series of newspapers, regularly runs Jobs Fairs in the Croydon area, attracting thousands of visitors and successfully matching hundreds of candidates with employers.

The relaxed and informal atmosphere of the event enables the visitor to discover a good deal more about their prospective employers and `sell' themselves more assuredly.

Jobs Fair will be open to the general public, so jobs on offer are likely to be varied and will appeal to the family and friends of students at the University as well as the students themselves.

Jobs Fair '98 will be opened by MP Edward Davey and will be open from 10am to 7pm on Thursday April 16 and 10am to 5pm on Friday April 17. Entrance is free.

Businesses interested in exhibiting should contact the Comet and Guardian's team on 0181 646 4455.
