The Hungry Sailors, James, front left, and Dick Strawbridge, second left, filming at The Needles with Naomi Sondergaard, of The Needles Park, and film crew members. Inset, the show stars on the Alum Bay chairlift.
FATHER and son duo Dick and James Strawbridge visit the Island for two episodes of their TV show, The Hungry Sailors, which will be screened tomorrow (Friday) and Monday.
Ex-Masterchef winner Dick and his son, James, sailed from Cornwall to the River Thames, stopping at various locations along the South Coast to meet and cook with food producers. The pair spent two days on the Island and visited a number of food suppliers, including Captain Stan’s Bembridge Fish Store, The Garlic Farm, Newchurch, and Brownrigg Poultry, near Godshill.
They also visited The Needles Park, Alum Bay, to see its sweet factory.
Dick and James, sailing on the Amelie Rose, drop anchor at Yarmouth, where they pick cherries, watch a hive of bees and invent an ingenious way of making meat more tender.
They also go fishing and head to a nursery where tomatoes are grown on a large scale.
In both episodes, the pair invite guests to dine with them on board their yacht.
The hour-long episodes will be screened on ITV at 4pm.
