POLICE have warned the Isle of Wight public not to approach a wanted man.
Detectives have appealed for help in tracing Benjamin Entwistle who is wanted for breaking the conditions of his release from prison.
In August, last year, he was jailed for 21 months after he was convicted of actual and grievous bodily harm.
Officers want to arrest the 25-year-old so he can be returned to custody and they are keen to hear from anyone who knows where he is, a spokesman said.
Entwistle is described as being white, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with dark brown hair and blue eyes.
DS John Stirling, of Newport CID, said: "We have been following many lines of inquiry in our efforts to locate and arrest him and we are are now making a wider appeal to the public, particularly on the Isle of Wight, where our latest information suggests he can be found.
"Due to his past behaviour, we would advise people against approaching him."
Any sightings and information about his whereabouts or intentions should be reported to the police immediately by phoning Newport Police Station on 101 or, if it is an emergency, 999.
Alternatively, you can provide information anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
