CHILDREN from a Chislehurst school filled more than 400 shoe boxes with toys, toiletries and stationary for kids in Kosovo.

Girls from Farringtons & Stratford House junior and senior schools, in Perry Street, Chislehurst, were asked to collect the shoe boxes by the Orpington-based charity Smile International.

As well as filling the boxes, the girls attached Christmas cards and photos of themselves.

Schools and churches throughout Orpington collected more than 2,000 shoe boxes as well as warm blankets, clothes, medical equipment and toys for Christmas.

The shoe boxes are now on their way to Kosovo in time for Christmas.

Rev Clive Doubleday, Smile International's chief executive, said: "These shoe boxes will brighten up the lives of many families and children this Christmas."
