A woman whose father worked at Elstree Film Studios in the 1930s has made an appeal for information from anyone who used to know him.

Marion Scotney, formerly Reynolds, lived in Borehamwood until the age of seven, at which point her parents split up and she lost contact with her father.

Frederick Thomas Reynolds lived with his wife, Louise, who was known at Tidler, Marion and her brother at 14 Beech Drive in the early 1940s. At one time he ran the exclusive Cock and Hen Club, opposite Elstree Film Studios, and he also worked as a film production manager.

Frederick and Louise were both involved with the film industry in Borehamwood, and he was cast in films including The 39 Steps and War of the Worlds. Marion, who now lives in Haywards Heath in Sussex, moved away from Borehamwood with her mother in 1945 and never saw her father again.

"Maybe one of your readers can help me in what I feel is my last chance of finding someone who knew him," she said.

Anyone with information on Frederick Reynolds or who remembers the Cock and Hen Club is asked to phone the Borehamwood Times on 020 8953 3391.
