A WARNING for ice for the Isle of Wight tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) has been issued by the Met Office.

The 'be aware' warning is in force from 8pm tonight until 11am tomorrow.

The Met Office said: "Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing overnight across many parts of England and Wales along with southeast Scotland.

"Due to the recent wet weather there is an increased risk of icy patches, even on roads that have been treated with salt, where water run off/seepage may wash off any earlier salt treatment.

"Therefore the public should be aware of the risk of ice on roads and pavements."

The Isle of Wight Council has said it's gritters will be treating roads overnight.
