Icy conditions lead to road closures

ICY conditions led the Isle of Wight Council to close a number roads last night (Tuesday).

There were a number of accidents during the evening, leading police to advise drivers to take care.

Princelett Shute in Apse Heath between Canteen Road and Branstone Cross is now open.

Hillway Road, Bembridge, between Howgate Road and Sandown Road was due to open by 11.15am according to the Isle of Wight Council.

*The Isle of Wight Council said at 11.22am officers were re-opening Niton Road, Rookley and Appleford Road.

The council advised drivers to take care on all routes and said they would monitor the situation today.
