AN APPEAL has been launched by Isle of Wight police after a man indecently exposed himself to a woman as she was walking her dog.

A police spokeswoman said the incident took place at about 3.45pm last Wednesday (26) in Binstead.

She said: "He passed a man who was walking a Jack Russell dog on the other side of Binsted Lodge Road by the triangular grassy area bordering Verwood Drive. As they passed each other she heard him whistle, and then he indecently exposed himself to her."

The man was described as white, about 6ft tall, stocky build with medium length dark hair, heavy black-framed glasses. He was wearing a dark sweatshirt with cream stripes either side of a central zip, light blue shorts and flip flops.

He was walking a tubby tan and white jack russell, which looked like an older dog, the spokeswoman said.

Police appealed for anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in that area or recognises the description of this man to contact them on 101.

Anyone with information can contact Newport DCID by phoning 101, quoting crime reference: 44140100934. Information can be given anonymously by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The incident is not being linked to a recent incidents in Puckpool, Ryde, and Carisbrooke.
