AN INQUEST has been opened by the Isle of Wight coroner after a man’s body was discovered in the sea last week.

The body of Bruce Thompson, 44, of Trinity Street, Ryde, was found by a dog walker off Castle Point in East Cowes, last Tuesday.

An inquest opening yesterday (Tuesday), heard Mr Bruce was an informal patient at Sevenacres and was reported missing after failing to return from the cinema in Newport.

Isle of Wight coroner Caroline Sumeray adjourned the inquest until May 6.

The death is not being treated as suspicious by police.
