AN INQUEST has been opened today (Tuesday) into the death of a 92-year-old man whose body was found on Compton Beach last week.
Andrew Latimer Parsons, of Guyers Road, Freshwater, was reported missing last Thursday, prompting a widespread search involving, police, Isle of Wight Search and Rescue, lifeboats and the Coastguard.
A post-mortem found he had died from a head injury consistent with a fall from height.
His death is not being treated as suspicious by police.
Deputy Isle of Wight coroner Hugh Calloway adjourned the inquest to a date yet to be fixed.
