AN INQUEST has been opened and adjourned into the deaths of a Sandown teenager and a 67-year-old woman from Brading, who were killed following a collision at Mersley Down.
Kiri-Jade Hodgkinson, 14, of Queens Road, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Thursday, January 2, while Barbara Ann Ford, of Nicholas Close, Brading, later died at St Mary’s Hospital.
As previously reported, police said the crash happened after the Renault Clio, in which Kiri-Jade was a front-seat passenger, crossed into the path of the Renault Megane, being driven by Mrs Ford’s husband.
The driver of the Clio, 18-year-old Jack Powell, and a 13-year-old back-seat passenger, were airlifted in separate air ambulances to Southampton General Hospital.
Mr Powell remains at Southampton General Hospital, however the 13 year old has been discharged.
Isle of Wight coroner Caroline Sumeray adjourned the inquest until July 15.
