Evergreen 8 Suffolk Youth 9

(penalties aet)

Challenge Cup 3rd Round

A penalty shoot-out decided this cup tie between two top-notch outfits.

Goalkeeper Chris Spencer was the hero of the day, making the only save to keep Suffolk in the cup.

Suffolk, who are a division higher than their hosts, started slowly and paid the price, going 1-0 down.

But this seemed to give the visitors a lift they needed, resulting in a fine goal from Craig White. A penalty miss from Aaron Baker denied Suffolk the opportunity to go in front -- but shortly afterwards Paul Burrows put two past the keeper.

After the break, Evergreen pulled one back, but Suffolk retorted as Paul Burrows made it a hat-trick. But the hosts showed determination and scored two late goals, taking the match into extra time.

Suffolk's scorers in the sudden-death competition were: Phil Coe, Aaron Baker, Ryan Fraser, the hitman Paul Burrows and the keeper himself.
