SOUTH Boats on the Isle of Wight and Seacat Services have signed a £10 million, three-boat deal.
The deal represents one of the largest single wind farm workboat orders ever placed by a charter service firm.
South Boats, which designs and builds offshore wind farm crew transfer vessels at its shipyard in Cowes, will deliver one 24-metre and two 26-metre vessels over the next 18 to 24 months.
Ben Colman, sales and marketing manager, said: "In the space of just under ten years, European offshore wind farms have moved from entrepreneurial vision to reality.
"Given the sheer size and scale of the energy infrastructure, that’s a significant growth trajectory and one that both boat builders and charter services firms have to really step up to and meet.
"Having worked closely with Seacat Services to build its existing fleet, we look forward to extending this relationship and working with them to unlock future vessel design innovation as both businesses continue to develop and grow."
