AN Isle of Wight business has been named restaurant of the year by internationally respected travel guide Les Routiers.

Owners Mark and Helen Baldwin, who have run the Cowes restaurant since 2000, said they were delighted by the accolade.

Mark, who has been in the trade for 35 years, said: "The award is like the feather on the cap really. To enter the competition, you have to be nominated and inspected by an undercover guest.

"When we were nominated for this, I told Helen it wouldn't happen to us. But then it did. It was unbelievable."

Helen added: "I think I am still in shock. The recognition is great and we will continue the business for as long as we can."

It is not the first recognition for Mojac's, which is in Shooters Hill. It featured in the Good Food Guide Readers’ Recommendation list in 2010.

A Les Routiers spokesman said: "This year has been so competitive.

"We’ve had such good feedback from the many fans of our nominees, together with outstanding performance by all, that made the judging process this year one of the toughest we’ve ever encountered."
