"WE'VE gone one step forward and two steps back," said coach Danny Vaughan, after Blackheath RFC crashed to a 51-3 home defeat against table-toppers Worcester on Saturday.

"We didn't deserve to get anything out of the game - we didn't compete with them at all," said Vaughan.

Worcester exposed the gap between themselves and the Rectory Field part-timers, by scoring eight tries, and putting constant pressure on full-back Del Coates with sound long-range kicking. Blackheath's only points came from a penalty kick on 20 minutes.

This weekend Club travel to Moseley, with a four-pointer against Wakefield to come.

Vaughan will be keeping a close eye on tonight's development squad game against Saracens. He will be paying particular attention to newly-signed London Irish fly-half Simon Amor and Oxford University centre Chris Pawlson, who could soon make a breakthrough into the first team.

On Sunday, the development squad take on London One side Westcombe Park in the Kent Cup. Vaughan was coach at the Orpington club last year. "I'm looking forward to seeing the Westcombe Park Boys and I'd say they're favourites as we'll have played midweek," he said.

Westcombe will be flying high after recording a 48-8 victory over Old Colfeians in the league on Saturday.

OC's hung on well against the wind for much of the first half and went into the second period trailing 17-8. But careless kicking gave the home side too much ball, which they quickly turned into points.

OCs travel to Greenwich in the Kent Cup this Sunday, where the home side will be hoping to do a spot of giant killing.

Greenwich remain unbeaten in Kent Three and had not conceded a point before last weekend's game at Darenth Valley.

Valley provided their toughest test yet but Greenwich eventually triumphed 18-13.

Paul Burgin went over twice and Marc Dermody scored two penalties and a conversion to seal victory. The result means Greenwich are almost certain of promotion to Kent Two next year but a good cup run would complete a fantastic season.
