Croydon 2-Maidenhead 1.

A spectacular brace of goals ensured Croydon's Ryman Division One status and gifted the title to Aldershot Town at the Arena on Saturday.

Wonder strikes from Jason Davy and Ben Judge in the first half were enough to end Maidenhead's championship aspirations despite a spirited second half comeback.

The win moved the Blues up to 14th and defeats for the bottom three of Wokingham, Thame and Abingdon, confirmed their relegation to Division Two.

Croydon's once again showed their ability to beat the very best with this fine victory. Having already disposed of Aldershot at the Arena it was no surprise to the home fans to see Croydon at their best in the first half.

Carl Bartley went close early on, firing just wide, but Ken Jarvie's men didn't have to wait long to take the lead.

Jason Davy smashed a stunning volley into the top left hand corner from the edge of the area for a 26th-minute lead.

And within seven minutes Ben Judge doubled that lead with an even better second as he curled a free kick into the opposite corner.

His 11th of the season makes him top scorer with just three games to go.

At that stage Croydon were dominant but Maidenhead regrouped in the second half and began to show the form which has kept them near the top of the league all season.

Top scorer Chick Agudosi pulled one back on 65 minutes as the pressure finally took its toll on the home defence.

The visitors continued to have the upper hand and hit the post and bar as Croydon desperately struggled to hold out.

The Blues played out a tense final few minutes which included eight minutes of injury time to ensure another memorable victory in a difficult season.

Croydon played Leatherhead away on Tuesday and travel to Staines on Saturday.
