AN ISLAND man has been found dead in India.
John Matthews, 48, thought to be from Atherley Road, Shanklin, was on a 90-day backpacking trip, when he was found dead in the Indian state of Goa.
It is believed Mr Matthews had been out celebrating his birthday, when his body was discovered.
A spokesperson from the Foreign Office said: "We can confirm a British national died in Goa, India, on March 29.
"Next of kin have been notified and consular staff are providing assistance. A post mortem has been carried out, however, the cause of death is deferred pending toxicology tests."
