Fulham will be playing in Division one next season following this disappointing draw.

Fulham were outplayed for long spells during this match and it was no surprise that they went behind in the 18th minute when Jack Lester scored from close range after good approach play from Andy Johnson.

Lester nearly doubled his total but his effort was turned on to a post by Maik Taylor.

Fulham quickly levelled when a Bjarne Goldbaek corner was volleyed home by Chris Coleman.

Taylor was called upon to make a couple of good saves to deny Marlon Harewood and David Prutton.

One of the main problems for Fulham this season has been the disappointing form of their four strikers who have managed just 21 league goals between them.

This problem was summed up in the 85th minute when Geoff Horsfield failed to trouble ex-Wimbledon and Chelsea goalkeeper Dave Beasant from eight yards from an inviting Goldbaek cross.

Caretaker boss Karlheinz Riedle was carried off with badly bruised ribs.
