Shaftesbury Barnet's latest star acquisition Anthony Whiteman, British No.1 over 1500m, misses the opening British League match at Eton on Saturday.

Whiteman, who achieved an Olympic qualifying time and a new club record of 3mins 37.39secs, when winning in South Africa at the end of March, is in training to represent England against Loughborough University later this month.

However, javelin star David Parker, who won the world junior title two years ago and was European junior silver medallist last year, is in action.

Parker, a student at Loughborough University, showed good early season form with a record throw of 75.94m in the qualifying competition in the British Universities Championships at Stoke-on-Trent. He won the title with 71.03m.

Shaftesbury's Commonwealth triple jump champion Larry Achike also competes.

A new member in good form is Adam Major who became No. 1 junior in the UK with personal bests in the discus and shot putt of 50.11m and 15.25m, for third and sixth places on the club's all-time lists.

Robert Mitchell, who has joined from Dacorum and Tring AC. Robert cleared a personal best of 2.19m during the recent indoor season, for equal second spot on the club's all-time list.

Other newcomers are Ewan Malloch (3,000m steeplechase), Greg McEwan (800m), Anthony Soall-Bell and Mark 'Geordie' Leitch (both shot putt).
