THE family and friends of an Isle of Wight youngster who has leukaemia have said they were overwhelmed by the public response to a desperate appeal for potential bone marrow donors to come forward.
Six-year-old Finley Morris, was diagnosed with the disease in April and on Sunday an incredible 2,211 people attended a Fight for Finley event the Riverside Centre to have a mouth swab to see if they were a suitable bone marrow match.
As previously reported, time is running out for Finley, of Binstead, who is part-way through a 12-week course of chemotherapy after a bone marrow biopsy revealed initial treatment had not worked as well as hoped and he needed a transplant.
His family is being supported by Delete Blood Cancer UK, which supplied testing kits for the event.
