ISLANDERS are being urged to step up and save Santa this Christmas.

The annual Santa Tracker, run by the Isle of Wight Weather Centre, needs to raise £300 to so they can pay for upgraded servers to deal with the extra traffic.

The tracker, now in its 13th year, allows children to watch Santa as he makes his way across the UK on Christmas Eve.

Meteorologist David Carrington said: "Last year we had over one million people visit the website, so we need the extra servers to handle the traffic."

David runs the tracker himself, updating it between 7pm and 9pm so children across the UK can stay up to date with Father Christmas' latest movements.

David said "We don't want to let anyone down. It's for the children, and I know my kids really enjoy being able to watch Santa as he gets closer and closer to the Island."

Anyone who wants to donate can do so via the Isle of Wight Weather Centre's website at: http://iwweather.org.uk/&am p;lt;/p>
