ISLANDERS have said they will continue the traditional Ventnor Boxing Day swim — despite the charity organisers pulling out of the event.

Yesterday, People's Approach to Cancer Help (PATCH) trustee Erika Arnold told the County Press the charity would no longer be organising the swim, due to a lack of support and sponsorship.

She said: "Out of 300 people taking part last year, only 11 returned sponsor forms."

However, people on social media have pledged to continue the tradition, and commented on the CP story saying they would still be taking the plunge.

A Crowdfunder has also been set up, to show support for PATCH and the swim.

The fundraiser is titled: "We're raising £200 to to show People's Approach to Cancer Help (PATCH) there is widespread support for a Boxing Day swim in Ventnor."
