James Martin at Wight Salads.
THE Isle of Wight will feature on a new television show about regional produce, hosted by James Martin.
The celebrity chef visited Wight Salads, Arreton, to sample locally grown tomatoes for the show, James Martin's Food Map of Britain.
Wight Salads marketing manager Mark Hitchcock said: "We were very pleased for the BBC and James Martin to approach and include us in their new series, about how the beautiful and unique landscape of the British Isles produces distinct and delicious regional ingredients.
"The Isle of Wight will be shown as an ideal location in which premium quality tomatoes are grown because the more sunshine hours and milder climate we have gives us better yields and better flavoured tomatoes than the rest of Britain. It’s a great advocate for us and great exposure for the Island."
During his trip to the south east, which will be screened on BBC2, at 6.30pm next Monday, September 23. Mr Martin also searched for truffles in the New Forest before whipping up a delicious dish of truffle chicken and stuffed tomatoes.
