Borehamwood 12

Cambridge 6

Herts Water Polo League

Borehamwood recorded only their third win in this season's Herts League with a powerful display in front of goal.

Leading 1-0 at the end of the first quarter with a goal from John Moore, Wood took charge in the second period with a hat-trick from Giles Martin and a goal from Dax Cain to lead 5-0 before Cambridge hit back to close the half 5-1.

Wood opened the third period with a goal from Moore, then Cambridge replied, before Wood extended their lead 10-2 with goals from Martin (2), Atkinson and Cain.

The final period saw Cambridge rally, with them winning the quarter 4-2.

But this was not enough, and Wood moved into fourth spot in the League with this 12-6 win.

WOOD: Chambers, Hime, Parkins, Radford, Cain, Martin, Unwin, Moore, Roberts, Atkinson.

Last Saturday eight Borehamwood players were in the Middlesex Under-19 side which beat Surrey 13-6 in the ASA Inter Counties Championships.

All the goals were supplied by the Wood contingent. Captain John Moore scored four as did Alex Shaw. Giles Martin chalked up three, with one each from John Atkinson and Daniel Williams. Another Wood player, Harry Dunne, was in the team but did not make the score sheet. And on Sunday, Middlesex Under-19s played away to Essex in the same championship winning 38-3. Giles Martin proved to be the top scorer with 17 goals.

This Thursday Borehamwood Seniors play host to Hatfield in the Herts League Division One.
