ANNA Wardley’s marathon round-the-Island swim raised nearly £12,500 of her charity total — so far — of nearly £56,500.

Totting-up the total followed Anna winning the Inspirational Woman of the Year award, which was presented in Portsmouth.

Most of the Isle of Wight charity money came from sponsorship but £470 was collected from crowds who lined the Esplanade for her Ryde Pier finish on September 21.

The Isle of Wight was the last of her Five Islands swim challenge, in which she raised cash for the Samaritans, the Island-based Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and Sail Africa.
